The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement involved activists and national leaders fighting for African Americans to have the same basic rights that were guaranteed to all American citizens. Some of these rights included right to due process and the right to vote. The Civil Rights movement occurred mainly in the 1950's and 1960's, however, people have been fighting for basic rights of African Americans since before the Civil War.
